The nose is big and bold — think cured meat, barbecued beef jerky, clove, mint, iodine, oxo cube and tinned prunes, with a hint of lobster creels reflecting its coastal origins. The palate follows through with soot-laced peat, tobacco leaves, prunes, walnuts, figs, cocoa powder and smoked meats. The finish lingers like the ebbing tide on a Kintyre beach, with soot, leather and walnut notes gradually receding.
